Constitutional carry, also known as permit-less carry or unrestricted carry, refers to the legal concept that allows individuals to carry firearms in public without the need for a government-issued permit or license. In essence, it means that as long as you are legally allowed to possess a firearm, you can carry it openly or concealed without obtaining a specific permit in the state which you reside.
While supporters of these laws argue that they protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens, opponents argue that they may increase the risk of gun violence by allowing individuals who are not properly trained or vetted to carry concealed firearms in public.
The term “constitutional carry” is often used by proponents of this legal framework who argue that the right to bear arms, as protected by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, should not be subject to government restrictions such as the requirement for a carry permit. They believe that the act of carrying a firearm is a fundamental right and should not be impeded by bureaucratic processes.
The implications of carrying or using a firearm in public can have life-altering consequences for you and your loved ones, both emotionally and financially.
At best, having a firearm on your person means that you might be held to a higher standard of scrutiny by law enforcement officers and prosecutors. At worst, carrying a firearm might make you a target for criminals.

State laws on firearms and carry regulations can vary significantly, so it’s crucial to be aware of and comply with the specific laws of the jurisdiction in which you reside or plan to carry a firearm. Additionally, even in constitutional carry states, there may still be restrictions on where and how firearms can be carried, so it’s essential to understand the details of the laws in your specific location. If you will be carrying in any other state, you will need a Concealed Pistol License to be able to carry in a state that reciprocal agreement with your state.
