Procrastination is the act of delaying tasks beyond the deadline. To put in simpler terms, it implies being late in accomplishing tasks that could have been finalized on time. For many students, procrastination impedes their progress. Even students, who are good at studies and can perform really well, end up procrastinating and affecting their studies.

Here are some of the most effective ways to avoid procrastination and create your way to a more disciplined life:

1. Acknowledge Your Procrastination

3. Reducing Distractions

You can keep your mobile phone in a different room or even if you need that, turn off social media notifications to avoid distractions. 

4. Specify Realistic Objectives

When you have a goal to achieve, you are better able to focus and keep yourself motivated. Instead of getting stressed about big tasks, try to break them down into smaller achievable objectives and set realistic deadlines for them. Instead of setting an unrealistic goal like completing the entire syllabus of mathematics in 2 days, give yourself 2 hours to complete a chapter and then move forward. 

5. Take Part in Group Study

If you know that you are distracted by mobile phones or other elements when studying alone, you can try group studies. Just make sure that everyone in the group is serious about their studies and have shared goals. Effective group studies can motivate you and enhance your learning experience as you can discuss complex topics and find solutions together. This gives you the confidence to prepare for exams and stay motivated. 

6. Reward Your Achievements

You don’t always need someone else to reward your progress. If you know that you have achieved your goal, you can reward yourself to keep performing the same way. The reward can be anything like watching your favorite show for 30 minutes after completing your study goal or playing your favorite game. 

7. Strategically Include Breaks

To ensure that you grasp what you study, you must include breaks within your study schedule. Learning continuously for longer hours can lead to decreased productivity, which further becomes a reason for demotivation and procrastination. So, just take a small 5-minute break after every 30 minutes of learning.
